Sarah Pearlman is a development economist who joined the Vassar faculty in 2007. She completed her undergraduate degree in Economics and Spanish at Wellesley and her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Maryland. She teaches courses in Finance, Money and Banking, Econometrics, and Latin American Economic Development.
Her research looks at the use of formal credit by poor, urban households in developing countries and by immigrant households in the U.S. She also looks at the impact that crime has on microenterprise growth and the impact of the drug war in Mexico on labor market outcomes and migration decisions.
